Why Horizons Learning Adventures?
We believe travel and learning go hand in hand.
Our experienced tour guides all have backgrounds in both education and overseas travel. Dr. Gary Scudder and Dr. Steve Wehmeyer have together led three Champlain College student trips to Zanzibar, with each trip revealing new learnings and cultural immersions. Education comes in many forms, and we believe that our trips are the perfect balance of learning and travel. |
We strive to give back to the communities we visit.
In 2017, we visited a school on Pemba Island called the Kangagani Elementary School. After realizing these students were learning computer programming with no computers and outdated textbooks, three female students decided to change that and founded Techdren. These girls gathered over 50 computers, which we brought to the school during our 2018 trip. In the future, we will continue to donate and aid the communities we visit. |
We believe you are never too young or too old to start traveling.
Dr. Gary Scudder loves to tell the story of how he first received his passport in his forties and hasn't stopped traveling since. Going somewhere new for the first time is certainly daunting, which is why our expert guides are there to support you in stepping out of your comfort zone in order to go somewhere extraordinary. Whether you're a high school student, working mom, or new retiree, we believe Horizons Learning Adventures is right for you. |
